Walking With An Old Man

Walking With An Old Man:
What seems like centuries ago, an old man would take my hand and walk with me. He was grey haired with a constant twinkle in his eye. His only focus at that time was to teach me, to love me, and protect me. There were times when he spared no expense to try and make those in his family feel loved, and happy. This man was my Grandfather. He was not perfect by any means. Some feared him, others like me loved him. Sometimes his rhetoric seemed dreary, old and out of touch and step. I would look at him and say grandpa That's Not True. Instead of getting angry he would look at me with a quizzical look on his face. And say Gary I have spent my life looking for my truths, one day you will find yours. To this day i still feel the need to Find My Way. To seek out what is good, what is righteous, and what is kind. I certainly have been no saint. But in the pursuit of these things, one day I looked in the mirror and realized I was a better man for taking the journey. If this Grandpa ever offered any advise it would be this. Never stop learning, never stop wanting to grow, push yourself to be better than yesterday. keep an open mind while you listen then choose your words carefully when you reply. Happiness is in your mind, security is something you work for. Life can be happy, when you use what others offer you in love. ♥-Gary
